Twitter Questions, Answered. Possible Spoiler.

Oct 15, 2011 | 4 comments

Last night, Jeff and Joel joined in a live tweeting at the time when Fringe is aired on West Coast. I collected some answers and insights, which may be of interest to you.

Character Relationships:

1. The dynamic between Nina and Olivia is something different in the timeline. Nina is somewhat a mother figure and a guardian to Olivia. And Nina also took care of Rachel. Expect
more Olivia and Nina scenes
.

2. Remember the odd meeting between Nick Lane and Lincoln Lee? Pinkner answered “SNAP. It just happened.”

3. It is no suprised that there will be more Olivia-Fauxlivia scene.

Coming back

1. Charlie? He’s in Prime Suspect. So it’s a long shot to see him again (at least in this season? Or depending on whether NBC will cancel Prime Suspect).

2. Gene? Yes.

3. Vague answer on Rachel and Ella’s presence in this season.

4. Possibility of Mosley coming back.

5. More Nina Sharp this season.

6. Peter’s come back could be very messy if Walternate found this.

Continuity Error?

1. I asked if Cameron James is the same as Cameron A seen in the wall of Jacksonville Daycare Center. Answer: A is his middle name.

2. Walter never left the lab for 3 years. How did he end up in Liberty Island? Answer: not his choice.

Mysteries

1. On Observers and blueprint they are following: There’s no blueprint, the observers exist in all timeline simultaneously.

2. Who does Broyles report to? The President of US.

3. Beacon on S1. They will answer that in due course.

The orange timeline

1. The orange timeline is not a different universe. It is the same universe minus Peter. They are not playing coy with us. But this most likely end with how we define universe. More discussion of similar issue here.

2. AltBroyles. AltBroyles. It was confirmed that AltBroyles existence will get answered. But honestly, I don’t think it is that important. I forward you to my previous blog post.

On a lighter note

1. Cameron James is a nod to James Cameron? No, but they love his films.

2. If you haven’t noticed the cars in the show changed from Ford to Nissan and Pinkner laughed on it.

3. Give Wu’s Fringemunks a shout-out.

If you are still not on twitter, then perhaps, this will encourage you. The producers occasionally do this live tweeting. And if you are on twitter, *shameless plug*, follow @FringeObservers and my own twitter account @Xerophytes.

I was right about the same universe!! *dances a little*

From a thematic perspective, the orange timeline being another universe would be a waste of time. Why would we care for the Fringe team from another universe? This being the same universe altered by the machine makes more sense to me: these are still the Fringe team we have grown to love, just altered with the lack of Peter. Slightly semantic, yes but I think it makes the difference.

I’m glad the universe didn’t just reset when Peter came back; that would have been cheap. Now we have a new dynamic: Peter is now once again an outsider, even more so than he was in season 1. He has to reforge old relationships, win back trust that never existed and become part of the family again, for the first time. This is why I simultaneously love and hate multiple timeline/universe/dimension stories.
