Firefly? Really voters? It was an awesome show and I stress awesome but not enough content to cover the entire summer @ once a week. Let alone fill the entire Fringe off season. But I think it should be touched on during the summer podcasts.

  3. mardarrell

Actually, Shawn, there are 14 Firefly episodes plus the movie. That is enough content to do 1 podcast a week and go through the end of August. That doesn’t include any fan feedback podcasts that we could do. Then Fringe starts back up in mid to late September. We normally start off our Fringe season a week or two before Fox does with a recap of previous seasons and what we hope to see in the upcoming season.

My vote went for Firefly, but Quantum Leap would be awesome too. I’ve always meant to finish watching that show, too bad it’s getting no love in the poll. 🙁

It was a tossup between Firefly and Time Travel Movies for me. I voted for Time Travel, and I can only hope that if it wins, you include Time Bandits!

I would love for you to do Firefly because Netflix Canada has it up and I recently watched the first (two hour) episode. I think it would add A LOT to my viewing if I had the podcast to listen to. It might be a great “book club” kind of thing that could pursuade me to watch an episode every week.

I voted for Firefly. But I would love to see you guys look at Supernatural. This and Fringe are my favorite currently aired shows. Given how the CW is picked on I think you would be surprised how good it is.

Oh, and of course would love to hear your coverage of Dr. Who, Matt Smith (the 11th incarnation) is simply wonderful. And its Show runner/Head writer Steven Moffat outdoes Fringe when it comes to complex tightly intertwined stories.

The Sarah Connor Chronicles would be awesome. Very original story telling and the twisted casting of a blonde actress that looked like Linda Hamilton doomed to die.. all of the deaths were just so original.

But so would Journey Man.. very original nothing like it before or since.. begging, screaming for a real ending.

If there is an Innerweb heaven for shows that were killed before their time.. and should they rise from the ashes like a Phoenix.. these would be a couple.

Whatever you choose.. try to compare and contrast them to Fringe.. mayeb that’s a topic.. Kholchak, X-Files, Fringe? What is the etomology of Fringe.. is it really wholey original.. or is it derivative? .. heck I’ve spotted a few frames straight out of Gilligan’s Island (which I thought how Lost would end).

Quantum Leap!..yay! I was just watching this again on Hulu over the weekend. It was fairly light hearted, but had some defininte Fringe-like qualities in that Scott Bacula’s character was trying to figure out the larger meaning to all his leaping around, and when (if ever) he would ever get back to his own life & time.

It may sound “old” being from the late 80’s/early 90’s, but it was ahead of it’s time.

Now…if I could only figure a away to “leap” over and over into other voters to get Quantum Leap to the top o’ the list.

Ugh, I wish Firefly wasn’t on this list. I love that show, but it’s been done to death podcast-wise.

I voted for Quantum Leap. I would love a chance to visit some of the better episodes.

How did “Harper’s Island” even make this list? I watched it when it aired a couple years ago. It wasn’t that great and it certainly isn’t worthy of pod-casting about. It fought off cancellation and ended up on Saturday evenings on CBS so they could at least air the remaining episodes, if I remember correctly.

Blame me for this one, Zach. A guy I work with told me it was a really good murder mystery series. It had a perfect number of episodes to do one podcast a week so I pushed for it to be included. I’ve never actually seen it so I guess I got a bad tip.

I cannot even imagine how many Podcasts you’d have to spend on Primer. Plus, you’d have to go back and rearrange them daily as they will surely have slithered about like snakes in the night. Plus, Time Travel’s Wife blows as a movie but I would be forced to demand it be addressed(because I love the book sooooooo much.) PS Firefly FTW!

What abou Twin Peaks? I suggest it because of the fringe tie-ins, its free availability, and its relatively short length as a series.

I am actually really surprised that Firefly is beating Time Travel movies…I love Firefly , I have seen it a bunch of times…I don’t think you can interpet the show on many different levels…

You watch Primer…You can spend years discussing the layers and possibliities. Ah well..congrats to the winner as I was dying to discuss Primer and other time travel movies… You win..I lose.

I totally misunderstood the poll, but I’ll give a suggestion anyway…

I’d love a Fringe podcast this summer that addresses all the fantastic callbacks to previous seasons that happened in season 3. A feedback show, perhaps?

    Great job, as always!

Time Travel! I just think that there is so much more to discuss with this topic. Primer! This movie is a must to discuss. I’m hoping for this topic. Firefly was good but I don’t think it will create the same level of discussion as time travel.

i voted firefly because: it was an awesome show that’s been referenced by fringe, i’ve never listened to a podcast on it, and these the fringe podcast guys would do a good job of it.

but others have suggested new doctor who and terminator: the sarah connor chronicles, and those are both excellent suggestions, especially sarah connor chronicles as i never quite finished that show.

but really, i would love to re-watch firefly.

Although to give a slightly more cerebral answer, Firefly is a perfect length for the summer. 14 episodes (15 if you cover the movie, WHICH YOU SHOULD), plus maybe a wrap-up, would cover three-and-a-half to four months pretty exactly. And personally, Firefly is my favourite show. Fringe is my favourite CURRENT show, but Firefly is my favourite EVER.

I absolutely love Firefly but I need me some time travel discussion. My favorite movie for time travel would be Star Trek: First Contact.
I really think this topic would be good as come season 4 I think we will be doing some major time traveling in Fringe.

Cool.. now that the topic is turning towards TT. I guess we’ll get a “Next Week on Cutting the Cable…” so that get a chance to see the movie. Netflix if your listening, get your wallets out.. these guys really deserve a sponsorship.

I would also be cool to run a “pre-season” poll to vote on movies or episodes of shows.. and sprinkle in a few “surprise” episodes.

Could we construct the 7C degrees of TT connected to Fringe.. or that seem to have subtexts that lead to Fringe.. connect the dots.. complete the picture. And “After Fringe” great podcast name btw.. could Fringe be in the same Universe as Lost, Alias.. and now Star Trek? (or Fire Fly) Yin and Yang about that possibility.

No blame to taken mardarrell… I was just curious how Harper’s Island made the list. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t great by any means. It had a cool concept, it just fell short. I guess it doesn’t mater any ways as it appears no one else really cared about it either. Looking forward to hearing your summer podcasts, whatever they may be about.
