The “Inner Child” GI Joe Returns in “Alone in the World”

Oct 9, 2011 | 9 comments

Hello Fringe Fans and a special nuqneH to fellow Klingon lovers,

I want to acknowledge personal failure in my burner for this past episode as I gave it, “8 1988 Tiger Force Roadblocks” and this is an error on my part. I thought the pants color on the Joe was different from what it was and so I falsely identified the GI Joe. I would like to correct my mistake by saying that the GI Joe “Peter’s favorite” is indeed a 1984 version 1 Roadblock. For anyone who is wondering, in the episode “Inner Child” (Yes yes Clint & Darrell, the one with Creepy Bald Kid), the GI Joe that Peter shows ‘CBK’ is in fact the very same GI Joe. So, well done for staying true to continuity! Also, for anyone who mourns the loss of the GI Joe that Walter savagely destroyed in Season 1 episode 10, “Safe” that poor Joe was a 1986 version 1 Slipstream. And yes, this is what I am bringing to The Blog section of The Fringe Podcast, my nerdy knowledge of GI Joes.

I have to say that I was duly impressed with your knowledge of GI Joe’s. Hmmm, wonder what that says about me. LOL…Great post and great catch on the continuity of the toys between the Peter and Peter-less universe.

Oh wow, well there is hundreds of characters that have been used for the small 1980s-2000s figures. On top of that a lot of characters/figures have different versions (coloration and weapons ect) So pretty much its endlessly massive. I haven’t seen that live action film from 2 years ago..yet at least. Obviously there have been GI Joes since 1964 but I am more fond of the 1980s and 1990s because that is closer to my childhood. Animated cartoon, and small plastic figures with weapons and such 🙂 I still collect, have around 150-180 I guess.

The G.I. Joe live action movie was terrible. Go buy some of the “Classic G.I. Joe” trade paperbacks from IDW if you want a better idea of what G.I. Joe means to children of the 80s (and while Vol. 1 is the obvious place to start and sets a lot of groundwork for the series, it’s not quite as good as some of the later volumes).

Remember G.I. Joe with the kung fu grip? We had more fun with that as kids.

    REAL AMERICAN HERO!

I still think the only real GI Joe’s are the 12 inch ones… my personal opinion anyway…
