As a kid I was a fan of Sliders. Quinn, a young genius, had found a way to travel through universes. By accident, he and 3 other people end up traveling from one universe to the other, hoping to find their home universe some day.
I remember one episode where Quinn (the hero who travels using a home-made timer) was trapped in the astral plane, unable to communicate with his buddies. Yet, he could see and hear them, and only a girl with some ability could see him and talk to him.
So, I was thinking, what if Peter is somehow lost in some sort of astral plane, too ? What if someone with special abilities could see him, and communicate with him ? Someone like…oh, a Cortexiphan kid ! The astral plane is also known as the world of the dead, of the illusions. The astral body is between the human flesh and the soul, if you will. (remember when Daniel Jackson ascended, in Stargate SG1 ? Well, that was it.)
That could be why the Observers think Peter never existed, because they can’t see his astral projection. They don’t have the ability. Olivia might…

I really like this thought!
Me too 🙂
Immediately after the Finale my mind went to Sliders – I only saw a handful of episodes long after it went off the air on Netflix. In Fact I felt like it was Sliders meets LOST for a little while with Peter = Desmond. But Peter having multiple dimensions of consciousness shifting.
Similar to the original Star Trek episode – ‘The Tholian Web,’ where Kirk wss trapped between dimensions and kept popping in and out.
Not really a fan of Peter doing a Patrick Swayze – Ghost for half a season. Really hope Peter is going to be hanging with the Observers quite a bit. It would keep him active in the story and also allow us to learn more about the Observers. Two birds with one stone if you will.
