Episode 0340-“LSD”

Apr 17, 2011 | 13 comments

In this episode we break down the Fringe episode, “LSD.”  We discuss the return of Leonard Nimoy, the mysterious Mr. X, some of the strange things we saw in Olivia’s consciousness and the use of cartoon animation in the episode.  We start the episode out with comments from show producers Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman that came from a conference call that we were a part of earlier in the week and we close out the episode with the most dramatic Quote of the Week ever.

This was going to be the first episode I ever listened to. I was going to download it and listen during a drive, but it looks like that’s not going to happen. Ridiculously slow. >_>

Kyle, I agree. Our download speed today is ridiculously slow. We’re trying to get it resolved. Podbean hosts our media files and we’ve never had an issue before today. Last night I downloaded it and it only tood about 2-3 minutes (which is our normal download speed). Please keep trying. We hope to have it resolved soon. I’m very sorry for the inconvenience.-Darrell

Here’s disturbing thought: What if Bell left Olivia and migrated somehow to Jean the Cow during the LSD trip? (I think of her as Gene the cow due to her bio-genetic purpose in the lab, but that’s not a proper girl/cow name). This is I know a bit silly and he’s probably gone/dead now, but if he isn’t, what if Walter continues to drink milk from the cow like we’ve seen him do, and this acts like the ‘soul magnet’ tea while Bell is in Jean? How creepy would that be? Remember the look between Bell-livia and Walter while looking at Jean the cow, when they first were trying to figure where to send Bell to get him out of Olivia…I hope this doesn’t happen, as I think they’ve ‘milked’ this soul magnet business long enough (sorry). I have to say, though; some parts were a little dull for an acid trip (What can I say- I’m a child of the ’60’s).

ps I give this episode 8 1/2 cartoon zombies that look like creepy lab guy

I was wondering if you guys have ever considered getting a Facebook page? It is just a thought. Also, the loading time for this podcast has been very slow but I am able to listen to it just fine. Thanks again for the great show.

It won’t work at all for me. It’s not that it’s slow, it just does not load at all. 🙁

    fun fact:
Th A-HA video ends by the singer banging himself against the walls of a narrow hallway to break out form the animated world to the real world. That scene is inspired by the movie Altered States, where William Hurt experiments with drugs to enter a different state of being. He changes into a “non-physical form of proto-consciousness” and in the climax he bangs himslef against the walls of a narrow hallway to get back to reality.
And the true fun fact? Blair Brown aka Nina Sharp plays the lead female role in the movie.

    here is the scene http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygz4jjboa4I
(the effects are a bit corny but the movie has some really cool ideas that are great for fans of Fringe)

I can totally see the connection! I watched Altered States back during season 1 of Fringe. It was cool to see all the parallels between Fringe and AS such as the hallucinogenic drugs and deprivation tanks used to get people into an altered state of consciousness.

I just recently started listening to the podcast and have been enjoying every minute.

I’m guessing the Yellow Universe was reserved for the final few minutes of the show–that’s why it got pushed back. In the last scene in the Blue Universe, the team will visit the Department of Defence, which is located at the Octagon, thus revealing that our universe is the Yellow Universe.
