The Observers have always been observing important moments in history, their presence have been recorded through the centuries. They also have been interfering with events when they thought it was necessary. So what do you think the Observers are gathering for in the upcoming Fringe episode ?

In this special edition of The Fringe Podcast we bring you the John Noble and Jasika Nicole Q & A session of Dallas Comic Con 2013. Darrell attended Dallas Comic Con with his two kids and all three of us got to meet and get autographs from John Noble and Jasika...

I would think they are witnessing the activation of the Machine in the BluVerse. That is a copper-green Statue of Liberty and we know the Machine was brought there in 3×21. Perhaps they are waiting to take Peter into the future?
I’m counting 10 observers in this photo (one is hidden behind the leg of the close observer on the left, but his shadow is still visible). It is also possible there is another observer or two that is obstructed. What kind of event must his be to bring in ALL the observers? This is very reminiscent of Brown Betty when we saw several of the observers in action to attack Peter and Olivia!
I thought this was an obvious answer: It is an observer’s convention. They gather around the Liberty Statue during the night because it is a state park and they need a place to convocate where it is deserted. Plus, the light emulating from the statue gives off a campfire-esque vibe so that they can share their observer stories.
Seriously though. They know something is going down and they are there to investigate. Or maybe the machine called them and maybe, this is very far-fetched, maybe they communicate with the machine and that is what they are reporting to over the phone.
Again, very far-fetched but I think the observer’s convention is real.
The Observers have been drawn to align with the energy waves coming off the Machine!!
I think the Machine is a way to travel through “what ifs” universes. We know Observers can travel through time and universes, and they know the future (or seem to know), to some extent.
Peter was obviously confused – a concussion can do that – but to me he seemed as if he was back to when he was young. The way he sounded, him asking to see his father Walternate, etc What bothers me is that he didn’t know what to do with his wallet, he only used his credit card (or what he thought was a show-me card ?), he didn’t seem to recognize his clothes, not his surroundings.
So I think he somehow was – for a few moments – the what-if-Peter-had-not-been-stolen-from-the-Redverse. But because he barely touched the Machine, the effect didn’t last.
But now that he is in the Machine, he can ‘travel’ through what ifs universes, seeing what could happen. And I believe the Observers are gathering around the Machine because it is their prerogative, not ours anymore (since the Machine has been dismantled and spread around the globe). They are the guardian of that knowledge, of that ability, because it can be a very dangerous thing, were it to fall in evil hands.
And that may be why the Machine had been hidden the first time – because something had turned horribly wrong and the Observers were the only ones who could repair the damage and prevent it from happening again.
I believe the observers are from the blue universe future.
the most damning evidence about the “observers” is that they interrupted walternate before he could cure peter.
They did they to ensure their survival ala terminator time travel theory. That the chicken goes back in time to lay the egg to be come the chicken.
The “observers” are trying to ensure their future. They interfere. They caused the car accident of give peter the keys and save the girl instance to get peter to drink the milk.
Why would the Observers want Peter to drink that milk, causing him to nearly die ? Or, did I miss something, as to why it was important for Peter to drink it ?
@clem Walters theory on why the Observer got Peter to drink the milk was a very round-about way of making sure Walter didn’t drink it. He said that Peter was young and would have been able to recover from it but it would have killed him.
Oh, I had forgotten that. Thank you for reminding me !
